I have a confession....I used to be a doula sceptic. Surely if you are fortunate enough to have a supportive birth companion, that's enough? And newborn babies are so easy - they just sleep all the time at first, right? And then I had a baby.....
The monumental life change of becoming a Mum put me on this new path for many reasons. Parents and babies are born with a wonderful set of instincts to help them find their way together. But our society doesn't always appreciate this, and it can make for some tough times. I'm passionate about helping new families to get a great start on their journey together, feeling positive, confident, inspired, and, hopefully, joyful too.
I trained with Maddie McMahon of Developing Doulas, who taught me some priceless life lessons as well as how to be a compassionate and caring doula. I'm so in awe of breastfeeding that I went on to complete the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers Breastfeeding Support Foundation training, and I'm currently in training to be a Breastfeeding Counsellor.
I'm excited to pass my knowledge on to others and ensure I do this in an accessible and inspiring way.
Unexpectedly my degree in Psychology has been hugely helpful to me as a parent and doula. I'm captivated by how we can work with baby’s biology and their developing brain to be in harmony. Doulas love harnessing the value of evidence-based research grounded in science. There's so much fascinating information out there that I can help you discover.
Aside from being a doula, my other passions are the natural world and being outdoors and I feel lucky every day to live in such a beautiful area where I can indulge this.
